3 ways to avoid constipation while traveling

I received compensation from Bayer Consumer Health, makers of MiraLAX® to write this post. MiraLAX® is a laxative used to treat occasional constipation. All opinions are entirely my own. #ReLAXOnTheGo #CollectiveBias

Yes! Let’s get real and talk about it!

Part of the fun of traveling is trying different foods.
Part of pain is not always having the best food choices.
So sometimes your belly just can’t handle it and you get constipated.

Here’s my best tips on how to help avoid occasional constipation while traveling

1. Drink plenty of water and clear fluids.
One of the causes of constipation is dehydration, so drinking water, fruit juice or clear liquids will prevent that. Unfortunately, you should minimize drinking a lot of alcoholic or caffeinated beverages - those beverages will aid in dehydrating you. But, traveling often causes dehydration, because it’s unusual activity for your body. You’re on the go, airplanes dry you out, and you don’t have as many opportunities to drink consistently. However, if you make a conscious effort to drink water, then you are taking the right steps to avoid occasional constipation.

2. Eat fiber regularly.
It’s recommended that you avoid low-fiber foods like candy, cheese, pizza, processed foods, chips and ice cream  - I know, all the fun stuff. But, eating high-fiber foods like dried or fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and whole grain crackers, cereals, beans and bread will, well...help keep you regular.

3. Keep moving.
You may not be able to squeeze in a proper exercise routine. But, keeping your body moving will help your digestive system stay moving, too.

Well, too late. I’m stuck.

Well, keep MiraLAX® handy in your travel bag.
MiraLax
MiraLAX® works with your body’s natural process to provide effective relief from occasional constipation. Because it works with the body, MiraLAX® provides a gentle experience, and doesn't cause harsh side effects.

MiraLAX® is not a stimulant laxative.

Stimulant laxative pills make your body go by forcefully stimulating the nerves in your colon. MiraLAX® works with the water in your body to hydrate, soften, and ease, unblocking your system naturally. MiraLAX® is safe and effective.
