How to make hair growth oil for just under $2 a bottle

You can walk down the hair isle and be overwhelmed with products.

I have kinky-curly hair, and I often suffer from dry scalp. The problem is common for people with really curly hair. The reason is because the oils from the scalp can't drift down the hair shaft because of the really tight curls. The end up being trapped, and build up- which causes dandruff.
*Of course, this is the very simple explanation.

Anyway, I realize that I can relieve my dry scalp by massaging it daily. By checking on my scalp daily, I  can see if it needs oil.

When I do this regularly, I find that I do not suffer from scalp problems. It also stimulates my scalp, which in turn encourages growth.

For years, I spent about $10 for 4 ounces on Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I still buy it.
However, for daily replenishing for my scalp, I concoct a very easy and effective oil combination that I just could not wait to share with you. The best part -  average cost per bottle is about $2!

This rates as a 1 on our D-I-Y scale.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
1. extra virgin olive oil
Olive oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff. Extra virgin oil is also rich in high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, an antioxidant important for hair growth.

2. castor oil
Castor oil carries ricinoleic acid and omega- 6 essential fatty acids, which accelerate blood circulation to the scalp, hence increasing hair growth. It works on nourishing the scalp and strengthening the roots with the help of essential nutrients.
Castor Oil by itself is too thick and hard to blend in your hair. So adding EVOO thins out the texture. Another effective oil is coconut oil. You may have to warm the coconut oil to blend with the castor oil.

3. peppermint oil
Peppermint oil has a cooling and refreshing sensation when applied to your scalp. It can help stimulate hair growth because of its ability to increase blood circulation around the scalp.

Optional:
Add tea tree oil for extra relief for dandruff
Tea tree oil contains antifungal and antibacterial properties that fight against the fungus that causes dandruff, and does so without drying your scalp. It works as a natural conditioner to your hair and eliminates any agents that are causing your skin to flake.

For best application, mix in a applicator bottle.
Bottles cost about $1 and can be found in the hair dye section of any beauty supply store.

RECOMMENDED MIX:
1. 1/3 Castor Oil
2. 2/3(or the rest of the bottle) Olive Oil
3. 4-6 drops of Peppermint Oil
*caution - Peppermint Oil is very strong, so a little goes a long way. Avoid contact with eyes. It stings!

Shake mixture in bottle. Then apply to scalp and rub in.
To ensure mixture still remains blended, shake before use.
