How I made an adventure trip from a destination wedding guest in Costa Rica

In the dead of winter, I went to Costa Rica.

It wasn't for a planned vacation. Rather, it was for a wedding of a friend. An easy Yes to the invite for me and my best pal.

Tyrone finally got hitched!
The celebration was intimate and gorgeous - what you'd expect when you have a wedding abroad (not everyone is going to show up - only the ones who matter.)

Take a look at some of my favorite photos from the day.

Then...
I extended my trip by two extra days.
The wedding ended and I had a lazy day exploring on bicycle and on the beach with my friends Rahman and Nima.

Now, on to what you are really here for.
Most of the crew left the next morning, and I had one more day dedicated for adventure.

I was hosted by Ocean Ranch Park in Jaco, Costa Rica. It's an 850 Acre multiple attraction Eco Adventure Park where you can take ATV rides across multiple ecosystems, horseback ride, rappel down a waterfall and zip line through the jungle.

You know they had me at rappel down a waterfall.
That was something I've never done before...plus, my obsession with waterfalls!

At Ocean Ranch park, you can opt to do just one of these adventures, or bundle up to all of them of a full day of adventure.

It's reasonable, too...
  • a single adventure is $65
  • a full day with all four excursions is $195
*Pro-tip: hunt around for deals on sites like Groupon if you know you are heading to Jaco. There are often flash sales and coupons that can give you access to this adventure park at a bargain.

I bundled a three excursion package to ATV, rappel down a waterfall and then zip line through the jungle.

Check out the Extraordinary Experiences of my day.
