It’s so easy to get lost in the day to day of life, especially when you’re a parent. You have little pieces that are taken out of you. You give a piece to your partner, to your job, to your house, to your friends, to your kids. These little pieces aren't noticeable at first, but then over time you realize that you have nothing left of yourself that is purely yours. Finding something for yourself is not always easy when you give so much of who you are to other people.

We end up believing that our needs don’t matter, but the truth is that they do. That sense of self that makes us the person we are can slowly erode away and you need to do whatever you can to prevent this from happening. You deserve to feel like a person, and that means taking control and recapturing a little of who you are can make the biggest difference to your life. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five things that can help you to rediscover who you are all over again.

A Vision Board
What do you want from your life? No matter what it is you need to get it down on paper so you can see it, visualize it and make it happen. It sounds like a load of rubbish, but seeing what you want to achieve can help you to make it a reality as you are far more determined to make it work. Fill it with clothes you’d love to wear, beaches you would love to see, and even hiking locations that are on your dream list. Think of the views at the top of the mountain, then you won’t be afraid to climb it.

Remember You Before Kids
Before you had children, you had a life. A career. A vision of who you wanted to be one day. Children don’t change that vision, they become a part of it instead. You still had dreams and places you wanted to see. You had ideas for yourself and you wanted to make them happen no matter what. Well, project back to who you were back then and make it happen now. There’s nothing stopping you.

Write Down Your Dreams
Get a journal and start writing down the things you want. Just like a vision board, this can help you to work out what would make you the happiest in your life and chase after it. Do you have career goals? Write them down. Do you have vacation goals? Write them down and plan them out. This is a crucial step in manifesting!

Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
It’s time to do something else. Big dreams don't happen by just sticking with your routine. You have to shake it up every once in a while. Take the thing that frightens you the most, then go and do it. Skydive, bungee jump, take a helicopter ride - go big or go home! Think about the success stories of some of the people you admire? There was always that moment when they pushed past the fear for the greater goal.

Enjoy Self-Care

You need to spend time on you, so take pause some times to splurge on a spa-day or a special treat that let's you indulge. You need to find your self-care and go for it even if that means spending extra time pampering in the mirror, soaking in the bath, or enjoying a book quietly in your secret place in the house.
